One last serve for the 2023 season

The Rebel volleyball team faced off against Somerset Christian Wednesday night in the Region Semi-final. The Lady Cougars had the home court advantage and were ready to get their second win. However, the Rebels wanted the win just as much.

The first set didn’t go in the Rebels’ favor when they fell short 25-16. The Rebels fought hard against the Cougars but were struggling to find their way around #9, Addison Cunnagin. Cunnagin is the number 2 ranked hitter in the state and really proved her spot at last night’s game.

The Cougars also had a really powerful sophomore server, Sophia Barnett. Her serve soared over the net just to take a steep fall in the middle of the court. The Rebels didn’t let up though, trailing 25-20. The Rebels kept their heads up and maintained a close score the whole game.

The Somerset Christian Cougars had lots of fans and made their presence known. The Rebels just couldn’t seem to hold on and lost the third set 25-22. This was the end of the road for the volleyball team’s 2023 season. They fought hard and made their season great. Though the outcome wasn’t what they were shooting for, they showed their perseverance.

Volleyball team advances in the Region Tournament

On Tuesday, the Rebels traveled to Somerset Christian School to take on Trinity Christian in the first round of the 12th Region Tournament. The Rebels, fresh off of a 45th District Championship, needed to bring some energy into this match.

Boyle started out HOT in the 5th set, taking a quick 8-4 lead. This set only goes to 15, so each and every point really matters. The teams went back and forth for the rest of the set, with Boyle taking the set 15-12!

Kendra Christopher had the final kill, one of her 25 kills! Camryn Thompson and Charli Grubbs had 11 and 10, respectively. Gracee Teague led the team with 27 assists, and Camryn Thompson led the team with 23 digs!

Rebel Volleyball advances to the District Championship game

On Tuesday night, the Boyle volleyball team headed down to Garrard County to take on Danville Christian Academy in the second round of the 45th District Tournament. The Rebels came into this match as the 1 seed, not losing a single match in district play. Danville came into the tournament as the 4 seed, with a 3-5 district record. They beat Danville in the first round, and won 3-0 against them.

Boyle County started off somewhat slow in the first two sets, but ended both sets winning 25-14 after going on huge runs. They cruised to a 3rd and final set win, 25-10. They started out hot and never looked back.

The Rebels had huge performances from Kendra Christopher and Charli Grubbs. Kendra had 14 kills and four aces, both leading the team. Charli started off strong with eight kills and two aces. The last fight of Postseason

The volleyball team really showed out in their pink last night. The Rebels played the Marion County Knights on Thursday at home for their senior night.

The night started off great with senior night festivities and prayer led by senior Camryn Thompson to recognize and remember people who have lived with breast cancer or passed away from it. The game had a special start, highlighting our 5 seniors: Raina Blevins, Zuri Mitchell, Chantel Osterloh, Camryn Thompson, and Emma Young.

The game was neck and neck in every set. The first set was back and forth with some tough rallies. Marion County came into this game with an advantage. They had huge success in previous seasons and came into this game having beat the Rebels once prior this season.

The Rebels, unfortunately, weren’t able to pull out the first or second set. They were losing 2-0 and had to win the 3rd set to keep playing and put them back in the game. Just as expected, that is exactly what they did. The Rebels fought hard to take the third set and sent the game into the 4th set.

The game was neck and neck the whole 4th set. The Rebels fought hard but weren’t able to take the 4th. They ended up losing the game 3-1.

However, Coach Eric Kenoyer says, “I love my team and I am just so happy we get to celebrate them. I have coached them since 6th grade so this was a pretty emotional night for me.”

This game was the last regular season game of the year. Good luck to these ladies in postseason!

We handled their strong serves and dynamic offense. It was truly a fun night.”
