Rebel Volleyball advances to the District Championship game

On Tuesday night, the Boyle volleyball team headed down to Garrard County to take on Danville Christian Academy in the second round of the 45th District Tournament. The Rebels came into this match as the 1 seed, not losing a single match in district play. Danville came into the tournament as the 4 seed, with a 3-5 district record. They beat Danville in the first round, and won 3-0 against them.

Boyle County started off somewhat slow in the first two sets, but ended both sets winning 25-14 after going on huge runs. They cruised to a 3rd and final set win, 25-10. They started out hot and never looked back.

The Rebels had huge performances from Kendra Christopher and Charli Grubbs. Kendra had 14 kills and four aces, both leading the team. Charli started off strong with eight kills and two aces. Emma Young led the team with 17 assists, Gracee Teague just behind her at 14. Gracee added 12 digs to her record, and Camryn Thompson had 10. During a crucial moment in the first set, eighth grader Ramsie Turner came in and provided a spark for the team. She got three digs and two assists in only a few points.

Setter Emma Young added, “the crowd really helped us get going in this game.” The crowd was quiet at the beginning, but just like the team, they got going around the halfway point in the first set.

The Rebels play in the 45th District Championship game on Thursday night against Garrard County, where the Golden Lions will be playing at home.
