First win of the week!

On Tuesday night, the softball team played a good region match-up against Rockcastle at home at 6:00PM. They were coming off of a loss against Taylor County and were looking to get their first win of the week. This week, they will play four games total, all at home.

The first inning started off well. In the field they got three up, three down, playing stellar defense. At the plate, they strung some hits and walks together to put up two runs in the first inning.

However, the Rockets responded well and got some hits to make the score 2-2 at the middle of the second. The Rebels did not let this rattle them and they put up four more at the bottom.

The next couple of innings were very consistent in the field and behind the plate. Junior Havannah Maddox was making play after play in center field, tracking down balls and stealing hits. On defense, they held the Rockets to two runs the rest of the game. On the offensive side, the Rebels scored more runs to make the score 10-2 at the bottom of the third. Cambry Cheek and Katie Qualls came in clutch last night going four for four at the plate.

At the bottom of the sixth, sophomore Miley Finley hit a walk-off single to win the game in six innings, winning 12-2. Overall, the Rebels played great and got the results that they wanted.

Senior Cambry Cheek says, “I thought the game went really well; I can tell we are starting to click and everything is starting to come together. As we are getting closer and closer to the postseason, I see our potential and I think we have a great chance to make it to the region championship.”

The Rebels play again Wednesday at home versus Mercy Academy at 6:30PM. Be there to support these ladies!
