Rebels wreck the Raiders

On Tuesday, the girls tennis team traveled to Somerset to take on McCreary Central.

The first match of the night was Matti Carlsen in the number one singles spot. She won her match 6-2 against a strong opponent. In the number one doubles spot was also Matti Carlsen, paired with Kate Hoffman. They came up short and lost 2-6.

 

The number two singles player for Boyle County was Emery Herron. She also dropped her match as she lost 0-6.  Now the focus turned to the number two doubles, Katy McSweyn and Zuri Mitchell. They swept their opponents in the must-win match.

Now the total score was 2-2, and it all was coming down to the number three singles match. Jenny Wilson was the chosen challenger for Boyle County, and she absolutely dominated. She won 6-0 and won the overall match for Boyle County 3-2.

Junior Kate Hoffman said, “It was a fun day and a tough opponent. I’m glad we were able to pull together and win this close matchup.”

The next match for the Rebels is Wednesday at home vs. Mercer County.

Girls tennis sweeps the Golden Lions

 

On Thursday, the girls tennis team took a trip to Garrard County to take on the Golden Lions.

The first match of the night was number one singles. Per usual, Emma Young was in that spot and did a fantastic job. She won all eight sets against her opponent, winning the first match of the night for Boyle.

The number one doubles team consisted of Maya Smith and Hannah Bischoff. They took care of business, only dropping one set out of the nine played. They won the match 8-1.

At this point, the overall score was 2-0 in Boyle’s favor. The next match was the number two singles. That match was over rather quickly, as Kristine Tran beat her opponent 8-1.

Next, the number two doubles team stepped up. Emily Messer and Matti Carlsen played really well, winning 8-0.

The final match of the night was the number three singles, and was played by Emma Taylor. She finished the night well for Boyle County, beating her opponent 8-1.

Overall, the Rebels won the night 5-0. This was a big district victory for Boyle, as they turn their sights to Lincoln County on Monday.

Panther Take Down

On Monday night, the girls tennis team took on Somerset Christian. They were successful in their efforts, winning 8-1. Emma Young played in the #1 singles, Kristine Tran in the #2 singles, Maya Smith in the #3 singles, Hannah Bischoff in the #4 singles, Mattie Carlson in the #5 singles, and Emma Taylor in the #6 singles. In the #1 doubles spot were Maya Smith and Hannah Bischoff. In the #2 doubles position were Mattie Carlson and Emily Messer, and in the #3 doubles spot were Emmay Young and Emery Herron.

Maya Smith showed her great skill on the court by “doing what needed to be done to get the win.” Smith said she was “proud of her team and how they performed at a high level.”

The girls will play again on Thursday when they take on Garrad County.

Girls tennis sweeps the Briar Jumpers

On Thursday, the girls tennis team traveled to Somerset to take on the in-region foe.

The girls started off with Emma Young playing in the spot of number one singles. She dealt with her opponent rather quickly, winning 8-1.

Next was the number one doubles, which was Emily Messer and Hannah Bischoff. They won a close match by a score of 8-6.

For the number two singles, Kristine Tran took on Evie Thompson. Tran swept Thompson, winning 8-0.

Finally,was number two doubles. Matti Carlsen and Emma Taylor beat their two opponents 8-2, solidifying the sweep for the Rebels.

Overall, the Rebels won four matches to zero. The next match is Monday at Somerset Christian.

Girls tennis sweeps the Colts

On Thursday, the girls tennis team traveled to Nicholasville to take on the West Jessamine Colts.

The overall match started with Emma Young playing as the number one in singles, and the duo of Emily Messer and Hannah Bischoff playing as the number one in doubles.

Young took care of business, and won her bout 8-3. Messer and Bischoff also were able to handle their opponents, winning 8-2.

Next up was Kristine Tran in the number two singles spot, and then Emma Taylor with Katy McSweyn as the number two doubles. Tran ended her match quickly, and won 8-0. Taylor and McSweyn also won handily: they only dropped one game en route to their 8-1 victory.

The final match of the night was Matilyn Carlsen in the number three doubles spot. Carlsen did extremely well, as she won 8-2.

Overall, the Rebels beat West Jessamine by a score of 5-0.
