Rebels wreck the Raiders

On Tuesday, the girls tennis team traveled to Somerset to take on McCreary Central.

The first match of the night was Matti Carlsen in the number one singles spot. She won her match 6-2 against a strong opponent. In the number one doubles spot was also Matti Carlsen, paired with Kate Hoffman. They came up short and lost 2-6.

 

The number two singles player for Boyle County was Emery Herron. She also dropped her match as she lost 0-6.  Now the focus turned to the number two doubles, Katy McSweyn and Zuri Mitchell. They swept their opponents in the must-win match.

Now the total score was 2-2, and it all was coming down to the number three singles match. Jenny Wilson was the chosen challenger for Boyle County, and she absolutely dominated. She won 6-0 and won the overall match for Boyle County 3-2.

Junior Kate Hoffman said, “It was a fun day and a tough opponent. I’m glad we were able to pull together and win this close matchup.”

The next match for the Rebels is Wednesday at home vs. Mercer County.
