Baseball loses 18 game win streak to Garrard

Monday night, Boyle faced up against the top team in the district and the second best team in the region, Garrard County. Boyle County being the second best team in the district and fourth in the region made this a very important match-up in the 12th region.

Boyle, traveling to Garrard County, allowed one run in the first off of an impressive home run to left field from Elleman. Boyle takes the lead though, in the top of the second, with Coleman Stuart doubling, Brayden West reaching on an error, Brayson Claunch being walked, Cameron Owens hitting a single to bring Coleman Stewart home, and Sage Dawson hitting a sacrifice fly to center field to bring home Brayden West! However, Garrard bounces back incredibly, bringing in five runs with four of them being from a grand slam. Garrard didn’t take their foot off the gas in the next two innings, bringing in two runs in the third, and two runs in the fourth.

For Boyle, Logan Marsee opened the pitching for 2.2 innings, with Josh Cool relieving him, and Logan Perry closing. Some impressive performances from the Rebels include Coleman Stewart going three for three, hitting a double and bringing in a run, Cameron Owens getting an important hit in the second and being walked, and Logan Marsee being walked twice and recording one hit on the night.

Overall, a tough game for the Rebels because they played very well, but Garrard had an impressive night, including the five runs from home runs. Boyle will have another chance at Garrard tonight though, this time at home, hoping to start a new winning streak like the 18 game streak that this loss broke!
