Girls soccer defeats Madison Central and advances to Elite Eight!

This past Monday night at Rebel Stadium, the girls soccer team came face to face for round one of state with the Madison Central Indians.

The Indians put up a good fight, but our girls fought harder and came out on top in the first half, 1-0, with a goal by junior Maggie Gnann.

During the second half, Madison Central couldn’t even hold the ball on our side of the field. The girls had a break away run towards the goal and put another in the back of the net, the goal by Maggie Burke making the game 2-0. Boyle’s defense held strong and kept the Indians out of the goal up until the final, with many close saves by Addison Cannon, goalkeeper, that set the crowd roaring!

Off we go to the Elite Eight with our Rebels rolling along! Coach Brian Deem lauded his players, saying, “The girls played with passion and heart and got the job done, we move on past these big wins and take on the next team.”

Who, when and where the girls play next will be decided in tonight’s game between Russell and Prestonsburg to determine who will move on to the Elite Eight!
