Rebs lose a battle to the Commodores

Last Friday night, Tates Creek traveled to Boyle to face the Rebels. Tates Creek was a challenging opponent and a win we wanted to get after losing to them last year. Sadly, the team fell short of this goal and took as loss with a final score of 7-5.

This game does not necessarily reflect in the score, though. The Rebels were missing all of their seniors, except for Braylon Booker. This roster loss did make an impact because seniors occupy 7/9 starting spots. Despite this loss, the Rebels played pretty well. For many players it was their first start this year and for some, it was their first start ever. In the final inning the Rebs scored four runs to make it 7-5, tightening the gap between them and Tates Creek, with a runner on second. They were one huge hit away from tying it up and going into extra innings.

When asked his mentality going into the game, junior Colin Wise said, “I knew it was going to be a struggle but I trusted we were gonna play our hardest and I feel like we did. Not getting to play too often, everyone wanted to prove what they had, so we came out to play. Obviously, it is always a bummer to lose, but I’m proud of our fight.”

The Rebs will take on Garrard County on Monday at 6. This is a huge game because Garrard is ranked first in the district. If Boyle can pull out a win they will take the lead in the standings and get a better seed in the off-season.

Rebels rock the Patriots on the road

Tuesday night, the Rebels traveled to Lincoln County to face the Patriots.  This was the first game of their two-game series and an important win for the Rebels. The Rebels took care of business, run-ruling the Patriots in the sixth with a score of 11-1.

While this win was not unexpected, it was still a big game for the Rebs. All district games are crucial for postseason play, so the Rebels brought their A-game. As a team, the Rebels had a tough night with hitting, but it did not hinder them because they got 11 bases on walk and scored the runners with timely hits when they got on.

Brayden West, pitcher, who threw all six innings, a total of 92 pitches, said, “When I’m on the mound I get locked in, I’m not thinking about how my arm feels too much. The most important thing is throwing strikes and getting outs for the team After the game I always do arm-care and ice.”

The Rebels will take on Lincoln County again on Wednesday at home, hoping to sweep this District Series.

Rebels Sink the Ads on the Road

Last night, the Rebels went across the town to face the Admirals. Tuesday night the Rebels beat Danville 14-4, at home. The Rebels wanted to sweep the two-game series. That’s just what they did! Last night they won 20-3!

While these wins were not unexpected they were still big games for the Rebs. All District games are crucial for postseason play, so the Rebels brought their A-game. As a team we had 17 hits, 14 RBIs, and only 3 strikeouts in 5 innings!

Coleman Stewart, who hit his first home-run since freshman year, said, “It’s about time. I don’t try to hit home-runs. My goal is line drives and base hits. But when your on a field as short as Danville’s, good things can happen.”, when asked about his home-run hit.

The Rebels will take on Taylor County on Friday in the first round of the 2A State Sectionals. This will take place in Owensboro and be a big challenge for the Rebels.

Rebels win the 2A Section 5 Championship!

On Tuesday, the baseball team took on Harrison County in the 2A Section 5 Championship. Harrison County has always been a top opponent and one of the top teams in the state. The past four years, the Rebels have made it to the championship and been beaten by Harrison. This year was a different story. The Rebels won the game 6-4 in a nail biter.

Starting on the mound was senior Brayden West. Brayden has been a key player for the Rebels so far this year. He pitched four innings, then was relieved by Landon Parnass. As a team, the Rebels had ten hits and six RBIs.

Senior Cameron Owens, after playing in the championship 4 years in a row and finally winning, said, “Every year we are so close to going to Owensboro but we always came up short. To finally overcome that challenge in my senior year is so exciting.”

The Rebels will play Anderson County tomorrow, and when they get back from spring break, will be taking a trip to Owensboro for the 2A State Tournament.

Rebels Rock the Rockets

Last Friday, the Rebels took on Rockastle County on the road. This was a region game, which means it was a must win for Boyle. The final score was 4-2, Rebels!

For Boyle, Junior Landon Parnass started on the bump. He threw 6 innings, had 7 strikeouts and only gave up 1 earned run. The game was closed by Senior Logan Marsee. Logan pitched one inning and had 2 strikeouts.  Senior Cameron Owens, went 2/4 at the plate, with 3 RBIs.

When asked how he clams his nerves while on the mound, Landon Parnass said, “I try not worry about the batter, I just throw the ball where it’s called and trust my defense to back me up.”

The Rebels are now 6-0. The Rebels will take on Bourbon County in the second round of the 2A Secion 5 tournament.
