Rebels sink the Commodores

On Friday, the Rebels made it through the second round of the playoffs by beating the Perry County Central Commodores. PCC’s record was 7-4 previous to the game.

Their season was ended, however, by our undefeated powerhouse. The score was 49-0, with a running clock at halftime.

In only four passing attempts, quarterback Sage Dawson threw two touchdown passes. One thrown to Geordon Brown and one to Montavin Quisenberry. On defense, we were able to shutout the Commodores. Bryce Bullock had four total tackles and Jax Crowe had three solo tackles and a fumble recovery.

Josh Bixler says that what sets the team apart is that, “It’s not just what everybody sees on the field. Behind the scenes Boyle puts a lot of work in, whether it’s in the weight room, the film room, or just bonding in the locker room.”

This was a good win for the Rebels and a great way to keep us rolling during the playoffs. We hope to see you next week vs Corbin. Corbin was the previous 4A State runner-up and is projected to be the best contender Boyle has played all year. It will be at 7:30 at home and is expected to draw an audience of around 5,000 people.

The Rebels take down a Top 5 contender

On Friday, the Rebels took down elite opponent, Frederick Douglass, 28-7. Frederick Douglass was a match up circled on Boyle’s calendar all year.

After taking a big loss to them last year, Boyle was ready to get back on the road. This was the last regular season game of the year and very crucial for postseason standings.

It was a very competitive game, and Boyle’s lowest scoring game of the year. As a team, they scored four touchdowns, two rushed by Avery Bodner, one rushed and one received by Montavin Quisenberry, thrown by Sage Dawson. On defense, the team was able to hold Douglass’s high powered offense to one touchdown.

This week’s defense was led by Demauriah Brown and Bryce Bullock who each had three solo tackles and five total tackles. Overall, though, it was a great effort by the whole team to come together and win this game.

“I love being a part of a family,” says defensive back Austin Bodner. “We go to war each week for each other and will forever be brothers. Everybody has a role and when everyone perfects their role, it makes a masterpiece.”

This was a tremendous win for the Rebels and was a great way to end off the regular season, undefeated! We hope to see you next week vs Whitley County. It is the first postseason game of the year and will be played at Rebel Stadium. Due to lack of referees it will be played on Thursday, not Friday, at 7:30.

Rebs Hammer Out Huge Homecoming Win!

On Friday, the Rebels took down the Lincoln Patriots, 58-14. This game was the Hudl National Must See Match Up and Boyle’s homecoming game. With a full week of goofy outfits and school spirit, there was a lot of anticipation for this game. At halftime, Harper Coffey was named the homecoming queen.

Lincoln County was a solid contender on offense, driving down the field and putting up two touchdowns. On the other hand the Patriots defense was unable to stop our dynamic offense. We were able to score 8 touchdowns. 2 of which were thrown by Sage Dawson and 2 touchdowns rushed by Montavin Quisenberry.

One guy that doesn’t usually get a lot of the spotlight is Boyle’s kicker. This weekend, Andrew Carr went 7/7 on PATs and 1/1 on field goals. When asked about his performance, Carr said, “I just did what needed to be done and I was glad to kick a field goal because that may be very important later in the year.”

This couldn’t have been a better game for homecoming week. It was a fun win for the Rebels and allowed for many different players to get some playing time and experience. Next week the Rebels take on Wayne County on their Senior Night. This is a district game and a must-win for Boyle. We hope to have you on our broadcast at 7:15.

Football Goes 2 for 2 Against Cardinals

On Friday, the Rebels took down the Taylor County Cardinals 48-3. Last week the team took down Top 10 opponent Scott County, making them undefeated against the cardinals. Scott County was a very solid contender with a record of 3-1.

On offense, Taylor County had some good drives during the game, but were unsuccessful to get into the end-zone. On defense, the Cardinals were unable to stop our elite and very efficient offense. We were able to score 7 touchdowns, led by Sage Dawson, Avery Bodner, and Montavin Quisenberry.

When asked what goes through his head in the heat of a football game, Jayce Crowe says, “It’s fun! When else can you hit somebody, get up, do it again, and then go celebrate with your friends and family?”

We are looking forward to taking on Lexington Catholic at Rebel Stadium at 7:30 next Friday evening! Show out and support for this much anticipated game!

Rebels Football Anchors Down the Admirals

This past Friday Boyle took on our cross-town rivals, the Danville Admirals. Last week at the school was “Rivalry Week”. After big wins from the boys and girls soccer team, we finished the week with bang at Admiral Stadium. The Rebs ended the game with a huge win of 56-0.

According to Keenan Stewart, “It felt good to beat our cross-town rivals.”

Sage Dawson led the pack going 7 for 8 with 127 passing yards and a touchdown. He is followed by Avery Bodner with 5 rushing attempts and 3 touchdowns. At Halftime the score was 48-0 and the Admirals had a net of 5 offensive yards. During the second half, much of the Junior Varsity team got their chance on the field and was able to put up two more on the Ads, giving great experience to the future of our football program.

Coming up this week, the Rebels prepare for a much more grueling Top Ten opponent, Scott County. Show out and support this Friday night at 7:30!
