One final ride for the Lady Rebels

Last night, the Lady Rebel basketball team faced off against cross-town rival Danville High School for the second round of the 45th district tournament. These teams both came in 1-1 with each other and both wanted the win.

A win last night would have punched the Rebels a ticket to the 45th District championship and a spot in the 12th Region tournament.
The game started out slow, both teams struggling to make some baskets.

However, the Rebels held a small lead of at least 2 for the entirety of the first quarter. At the end of the first, the score was 10-8, Boyle leading. The Rebels quickly gained a four point lead, 14-10 and held it for a while. At the end of the half, the Rebels led 19-17.

The Rebels came out slower than expected in the second half, not scoring well. Though they fought, the Rebels were outscored in the second half. In the third quarter, a drive by Alana Quisenberry put the Admirals in the lead.

They ended up down 31-24 at the end of the third. The fourth quarter, unfortunately, just widened the gap between the teams. The Rebels ended up losing 42-29.

Sophomore Maggie Burke says, “We didn’t start out slow like we did when they played us at our place. But after half time, we came out and they went on a run. We laid down and didn’t fight as hard as we could have. It was a long season but we have come a long way in just one year. Although this season is over, I’m thankful I get to come back next year and do even better!”

The Rebels had a fantastic season and should be proud of all of their hard work. Congratulations Ladies!
