Neck and neck game for the Rebels

Tuesday night, the girls basketball team played Danville in their boys-girls doubleheader at 6 PM. The girls had just come off a big district win over Lincoln County and were looking for another one. They wanted to get this win so they would have a better chance at higher seeding for district play.

The game started off and ended close. The girls were working hard but really struggled getting their shots to fall. They were only 25% on their field goal percentage and 21% from the three point line. They didn’t give up though.

Annabelle Tarter led the girls in rebounds with nine and eighth grader Addison Yates led the team in free throws with six. Sophomore Ashlen Young got a chance to play some varsity minutes and really capitalized on the opportunity. She made four three-pointers and went two for two at the free throw line. A great game for her!

Coach Brian Britt said to the girls during the game, “Don’t worry about the score, I’m not worried. We just need to play our game and play how we know how to play.”

The girls play again tonight at home against Garrard County for their senior night as well as the Hall of Fame ceremony.

Roaring Rebels defeat the Lions

On Friday, the Rebels, both boys and girls, defeated Garrard County at home. The girls won 61-35. This was the senior night for both boys and girls, as well as, the Hall of Fame Inductee Game. Therefore,  this game was personal and a must win for the Rebels.

8th grader, Addison Yates, was the team’s top scorer on the night. She finished with 19 total points, 12 of which came off three-pointers. The seniors for the are Andie Glasscock, Payton Bugg, and Annabelle Tarter. All three of which had great games on their senior night, scoring 20 total points and 19 rebounds.

When asked the importance of senior leadership, underclassmen Maggie Burke said, “They are such great friends and even better leaders. They have shown me how to play tough for my team.”

On Tuesday, there will be another double header vs Danville Christian Academy. Both boys and girls lost, last time these teams matched up, so this game is personal for the Rebels.

The Rebels sweep the Double Header vs Lincoln

On Friday, the Rebels, both boys and girls, defeated rival team Lincoln County, on the road. The girls won 54-42. This is not the first time the Rebels and the Patriots have matched up. On January 23, the Boyle girls won 52-36 at home.

The team’s top scorer, Senior Payton Bugg, brought the team home with the win. Followed by Addison Yates, an 8TH GRADER, who is the top three point shooter and an essential starter for the Rebs.

In an interview with Andie Glasscock, she said, “We have so much depth and talent on our team. Utilizing underclassmen benefits us in the present, but also gives them experience for the future of our team.”

On Tuesday, the girls will take on Danville in another double header at home. This will unfortunately not be broadcasted by BCSN, so show out and support the Rebels.

Tight night for the Lady Rebels

Last night, the Lady Rebel basketball team played the Madison Southern Eagles at home. They tipped off at 7:30 and were looking to get another win to add to their record.

The Rebels started off hard, per usual, and were jumpy to get the ball. The game remained close the whole time; the Rebels up one at half time, 20-19. The momentum was back and forth the whole game, both teams fighting for the lead.

At the end of the third, both teams were tied at 27-27.

This low scoring game proved that both teams played stellar defense. The game was neck and neck the whole fourth quarter until the Eagles held the lead at 35-34 with one minute left. Two more shots gave them the 39-34 victory over the Lady Rebels.

“It was a close game but we just couldn’t pull out the win,” says junior Jaelyn Tinsley. “We worked hard together and didn’t give up. This loss doesn’t define us and we will be back soon.”

The Rebels play again on Friday in a doubleheader against Lincoln County. Be there to support these girls!

Girls Basketball Gets A Big Win on The Road

Last Saturday, the girls basketball team took on Nelson County. The Rebels were able to pull off the win 59-45 on the road. This is their fourth win in a row.

The top scorers of the game Payton Bugg, Addison Yates, and Ashlen Young, all with 12 points. Ashlen Young with the best game of her season so far made 2 threes and shot 100% on free throws.

When asked what goes into a week of practice to prepare for a game, Addison Yates said, “Like most teams we practice 5-6 days a week, but what separates us from other teams is we always give 110% and intend on getting better with everything we do.”

Today the girls will play Madison Southern at home. Hopefully the girls can pull off another big and go on a 5 game winning streak.
