The last fight of Postseason

The volleyball team really showed out in their pink last night. The Rebels played the Marion County Knights on Thursday at home for their senior night.

The night started off great with senior night festivities and prayer led by senior Camryn Thompson to recognize and remember people who have lived with breast cancer or passed away from it. The game had a special start, highlighting our 5 seniors: Raina Blevins, Zuri Mitchell, Chantel Osterloh, Camryn Thompson, and Emma Young.

The game was neck and neck in every set. The first set was back and forth with some tough rallies. Marion County came into this game with an advantage. They had huge success in previous seasons and came into this game having beat the Rebels once prior this season.

The Rebels, unfortunately, weren’t able to pull out the first or second set. They were losing 2-0 and had to win the 3rd set to keep playing and put them back in the game. Just as expected, that is exactly what they did. The Rebels fought hard to take the third set and sent the game into the 4th set.

The game was neck and neck the whole 4th set. The Rebels fought hard but weren’t able to take the 4th. They ended up losing the game 3-1.

However, Coach Eric Kenoyer says, “I love my team and I am just so happy we get to celebrate them. I have coached them since 6th grade so this was a pretty emotional night for me.”

This game was the last regular season game of the year. Good luck to these ladies in postseason!

The Volleyball Team Fights in a Close Match Against Trinity Christian.

The Rebels knew that Trinity Christian would be some tough competition but they came out ready to fight. They battled hard in the first set and took the victory by 4 points. However, they couldn’t continue the streak when they lost the second set 17-25.

They were looking for another win going into the third set and ended up winning 25-15. Their hard work just wasn’t enough in the fourth when they lost 25-21.

The game came to a 5th and final set. The Rebels needed this set to win the game. They fought hard and rallied against this tough team but fell short 15-13.

“We went up against one of the top teams in the twelfth region,” head Coach, Eric Kenoyer, states. “Currently they are second. Both teams played incredibly. Back and forth all night. It was one of our more efficient nights on offense and our defense was relentless. I love our mental toughness and the way we fought until the last point. We handled their strong serves and dynamic offense. It was truly a fun night.”

The Rebels play again tonight and tomorrow at the Woodford County Invitational! Good luck ladies!!!

A Clean Sweep Against the Patriots!

The Rebels ended up taking a clean sweep over Lincoln county when they won the third set 25-21. The Rebels kept their composure when tough sets came about and ended up pulling out the best outcome!

Junior Gracee Teague, setter, led the team in assists (16) and Kendra Christopher led the team in kills (12).

The Volleyball Team Takes a Tumble Against the Maroons

The volleyball team traveled to play Pulaski County on Saturday morning. They were coming off of a clean sweep against Danville Christian Academy and were looking to keep the ball rolling.

The Rebels started off the first set behind, losing 25-19. Kendra says that their biggest issue on Saturday was that they “didn’t work well as a team”. She adds, “I think we definitely have the potential to beat them in the future.”

The next set went to the Rebels where they came back to win the set 25-12! However, the odds were not in their favor in the next two sets. They ended up losing the third set 25-22 and the fourth 25-23. Though they played close with the maroons, they were not able to secure the win.

Junior Kendra Christopher says, “We just need to use our individual talents to work with each other better. The most fundamental thing we need to focus on is serve receive because it is essential to running our offense successfully.”

The volleyball team will play again on Tuesday away against Danville! Good luck ladies!

These strong Ladies kept their heads held high as they went into the next two games, defeating South Laurel and Rockcastle, both in 2 sets. The last game they played was the championship against Russell County. Kenoyer says, “The championship match was an absolute battle and our girls stepped up to the challenge. While you hate to lose those games, I was so proud of our girls and how they competed. It would have been great to win the tournament; However, I love where the team is and how we are maturing as a group.”

After 6 challenging matches, the team ended up as runners-up of the Rockcastle Invitational Tournament! Overall, the team had a total of 176 kills and 186 digs. Junior, Kendra Christopher led the team in kills (67), as well as digs (40). Sophomore Charli Grubbs really marked her territory being the second leader in kills (52).
