Admirals can’t catch up to the Rebels

This past Tuesday, the Boyle County Rebels softball team invited the Danville Admirals to play on their home turf.

The Rebels kicked off the game by scoring seven runs in the bottom of the first inning.

Keeping great defense in the second inning, the Admirals couldn’t get a run in. However, when it is the Rebels’ turn to bat, they bring their all. The Rebels score seven more runs in the bottom of the second, putting the score at 14-0.

By the third inning, the Admirals get fired up and manage to fit in their first run of the game. But, the Rebels return and score two more runs to finish the game.

Junior Kasey Meadows said,  “We all chipped in, worked together, and came together. Even though the season started off rough, we are working as one, working our way through adversity.”

The Rebels will play again Thursday at home, against Southwestern.

Boyle takes a tough loss against Casey

On Monday, the Boyle County Rebels softball team invited the Casey County Rebels over for a home game.

Casey, unfortunately, scored the first run in the top of the first inning to give them an early lead of 1-0.

However, in a quick rebuttal, junior Paisleigh Conn stole her way around the bases and scored Boyle a run at the bottom of the second. After that, Casey pushed forward and scored three runs in the top of the fifth and two more in the top of the sixth.

This lead was making it hard for Boyle to keep up, allowing Casey to win the game 6-1.

The only scorer for the game, Conn says, “it was a tough loss, but we will keep trying and do better next game.”

Boyle will play again on March 27, away against Woodford County.

Rebels have a dog fight with the Cardinals

Thursday night, the Boyle County softball team took on South Laurel on the home turf. No runs were made until the top of the second inning when the Cardinals unfortunately scored the first run.

The Rebels held off the Cardinals the rest of the game, maintaining great defense against them in the field. When the final inning rolled around, both teams had fought extra hard to try and obtain the win. The Cardinals scored one more run in the top of the seventh inning, but when the rebels stepped up to bat, junior Havannah Maddox hit the first home run of the game, securing Boyle’s first run. However, even with such a great home run and defense, Boyle lost 2-1.

Junior pitcher Katherine Lemonds explained, “We played really well as a team. We responded to the adversity that hit us hard towards the end of the game and inched back in the seventh inning. The game didn’t play out the way we wanted but it helped us get better as a team.”

This was a dogfight between the two teams. The Rebels will play again on Saturday at Franklin County.

He also has great determination and leadership skills. Carey’s strong traits will follow with him as he continues his academics and wrestling over to Campbellsville.

Lady Rebels take over the podium at State

This past weekend, the Boyle County girls wrestling team made history. The team made their way to the AllTech arena for the first official KHSAA state championship where the 114-pound 8th-grader, Lyla Smith became Boyle County’s first official state champ in girls wrestling.

Smith says, “We’ve improved very much since our last performance at state and I am very much pleased with our team.” Along with Smith, three other lady rebels made the podium:

  • Makayla fowler (132lbs)- eighth place
  • Alyssa Pinkston (185lbs)-fourth place
  • Porter Tagarook (HVW) – eighth place

The Team all together did a fantastic job, coming in seventh overall with eight qualifiers. This is a great way to wrap up the girls’ season. With a start like this, we can only guess that this young team will continue to make history and break records for seasons to come.
