The Yellow Jackets sting the Rebels

The boys tennis team took on their first loss of the season to the Woodford County Yellow Jackets a week ago on Tuesday, March 19. They played the Yellow Jackets away in Versailles and the Rebs lost, with a final score of 1-4.  This moves their season record to 3-1.

The match started off with all doubles. Caleb Sutton and Jacob King started a little slow, down 1-4. They slowly made a run to bring themselves back up to 4-5. However, after the long match, Woodford came out ahead winning 8-4. The night then continued with Spencer Costello and Desmond Rapp falling just short, losing 8-0. Then three seed doubles Lance Slone and Andrew Carr had a rough match. They fought hard, but ended up losing 0-8. Finally, at the end of the doubles, Cooper Jackson and Alosha McSweyn almost made a comeback, but fell short, losing 4-8.

Senior Mason Young was the lone winner that night, winning 8-1 over Morgan Hash. The game was difficult and Young fought hard to come out on top. Young said, “It was a tough match with rough conditions, but we all fought hard and played well considering the conditions.”
