Close match-up against the Colts

On Tuesday night, the Lady Rebels basketball team was hyped up to play a region rival, West Jessamine.

They were coming off of a close district match-up against Garrard and were looking to get another. Sure enough, the whole game was close; they were fighting until the very end.

At the beginning, the girls were already neck and neck. Both teams stayed fighting for the lead. However, the Colts had the advantage of their shots falling, while the Rebels weren’t doing too hot in that area. They tried to make it up on defense, and at the half the score was 24-23. West Jessamine leading.

The game continued being close and the Rebels kept on trudging along. With about five minutes left in the game, West Jessamine still held the lead at 42-40. Then, at three minutes left, the Rebels finally took the lead, 44-42.

The Colts responded, however, and battled back to a 48-46 lead with under a minute left. A foul and a free throw drained made the lead 49-46, that being the final score.

Sophomore Ashlen Young said that “I think we played well, just made some mistakes on both ends of the floor. Foul calls weren’t on our side either”.

The Rebels play again on Friday at 7:30PM at Bardstown! Be sure to go cheer them on!
