The Rebels brought home the victory at Kroger Field!! Covington Catholic met them in the championship game after they beat Paducha Tilghman. The Rebels showed everyone why they are the best team in the state beating Cov Cath 41-0. The Rebels held the momentum the entire game and never let off the gas.

Sage Dawson threw for over 130 yards completing 11 passes with one passing touchdown. The Rebels rushed 238 yards with Bodner and Quisenberry leading the team in rushing yards. Bodner and Quisenberry also lead the team in receiving yards. The Rebels’ defense played exceptionally well with 4 sacks and an interception.

“I’m glad we could finish this season out right and go out on top,” says senior defensive back Avery Bodner. “All the hard work and dedication that we put into this season paid off.”

After winning the state championship 4 years in a row, the Rebel seniors have a career record of 53 wins and 3 losses with 2 undefeated seasons. They have been considered the best team in the state multiple years. Who ya with??

Boyle takes down Corbin in a top 2 matchup!

What an electric game! The Boyle County Rebels took on the Corbin Redhounds this past Friday night. The game was tight throughout all 4 quarters. The Rebels took down the Redhounds 21-14. Between the audience live at the game and the audience tuning into the game, there were over 30,000 people watching the game.

Throughout the game, the Rebels focused more on running the ball instead of throwing. Quisenberry had roughly 78% of the rushing yards with 197. Bodner and Brown had the remaining yards for the team’s 252 total yards. Quisenberry also had 2 of the team’s 3 touchdowns. Brown had a crucial interception during the game.

Advancing to the final round before the state championship, the Rebels will take on Franklin County at their place. The game is at 7:30 on Friday night. Whoever wins the game will advance to the state championship to face the winner of Covington Catholic or Paducha Tilghman.

Boyle County starts their postseason run!

With the first Thursday game of the year, the Rebels took on the Colonels of Whitley County.

Boyle Co was able to battle to the top winning 41-6. The Rebels had a running clock in the second quarter and the JV team got some good experience in the first playoff game of the season.

Sage Dawson threw for 206 yards with 4 passing touchdown completions. Montavin Quisenberry led the team in receiving yards with 129. The Rebels threw for 230 yards and ran for 164 yards. The touchdowns were spread out among the team. 5 different players scored one or more touchdowns. The Rebels also forced two fumbles and Andrew Carr went 5 for 5 on his PATs.

In the next round of the playoffs, the Rebels will take on Perry County Central High School. It is still win or go home so the team will put all of their focus this week on winning this next game. They play at home again on Friday at 7:30.

Senior Celebration and Rebels take down Wayne County

Last Friday, the Rebels took on Wayne County as the last regular season home game. On top of this, it was Senior Night. The seniors for this year are Avery Bodner, Keenan Stewart, Sage Dawson, Austin Gorley, Aiden Gosser, Lance Slone, Jayce Crowe, and Josh Bixler. The senior band members, cheerleaders, and managers/film crew were also honored before the game.

Senior QB1, Sage Dawson, threw 3 touchdowns and threw for 137 yards. Dawson also ran for a touchdown and ran for 23 yards. Senior Josh Bixler scored a touchdown as well. Andrew Carr kicked 5 for 5 on PATs. With another win by a large margin, the JV team got plenty of playing time as well. At the end of the game, the Rebels won 49-14.

The Rebels hope to continue their undefeated season going into the last regular season game on Friday the 27th at Fredrick Douglass. It should be a great game with lots of fans and great energy!

Boyle Football Stays Undefeated

As the second Lexington school the Rebels have taken down, Lexington Catholic came into the game 2-3. There were a lot of mixed feelings around the game not knowing how good Catholic was.

Adding the the excitement of the big game, the Tamme brothers came onto the broadcast Friday night for Tamme Time. Legendary professional football player, Jacob Tamme, played and graduated from Boyle County along with his brother Seth.

At halftime, Boyle County was down by 7, but the Rebs put some points on the board in the second half to win 56-21.

Sage Dawson threw 22 passes, 11 of them being completed for 362 yards. Dawson threw 4 touchdowns against the Knights. Quisenberry led the team in rushing for 68 of the team’s 215 rushing yards. Geordon Brown led the team in receiving yards having 141. Andrew Carr, the Rebels’ kicker, went 8 for 8 on PATs. Leading the Rebels’ defense, Jayce Crowe had 7 tackles and a sack.

With a great win on Friday night, the Rebels have plenty of time to celebrate with a bye week this Friday. Their next game will be at Russell County October 6.
