Boys dive into first at Centre!

On Saturday, the Boyle County dive team competed in a meet at Centre College hosted by Danville High School. 

Andrew Lockhart took 1st place in the boys competition, followed up by Gabe Hamon in 2nd, to help the boys secure the overall win.

The girls weren’t quite able to win despite a good performance that included high placements from Jolie Cochran and Matti Carlsen. 

The dive team will look to keep going strong for the remainder of the season after a great start! The next dive meet will be when the team returns from break, bringing it back on January 10 at Russell County.

 

Boys Soccer Spears the Spartans

On Tuesday, the Boyle County boys soccer team took on the Sayre Spartans at home. The game started with a goal by Matthew Britt a little over a minute in. The Rebels did not look back from that point, winning with a final score of 6-0. Goals were scored by Bo Little (2), JD Cooley (2), Matthew Britt, and Alan Wireman. 

Senior JD Cooley was pleased with the performance saying, “It was a great way to end the season, it should give us good momentum going into the district tournament.”

The Rebels’ next game will be a district tournament game against the Lincoln County Patriots. If they win that, they will take on the winner of Danville and Garrard County for the district championship.

Boys Soccer Slays the Golden Lions

On Tuesday, the Boyle boys soccer team took on the Garrard County Golden Lions. Boyle had to win to secure the 1 seed for the district tournament, and did just that.

They scored three early goals and didn’t look back. They racked up four more to win 7-1. Goals were scored by Andrew Carr, Alan Wireman, JD Cooley, Matthew Britt, and Jackson Pass. 

When asked about the performance, senior JD Cooley said, “I think this was one of our best games of the season and that momentum is going to be crucial come time for the postseason.”

The Rebels will definitely look to continue winning like this as the postseason is right around the corner. Show out to support them this Thursday as they take on Corbin at home in a boy/girl doubleheader, as well as a celebration for their seniors on their Senior Night!

Boys Soccer Pick Up District Win Against Lincoln

On Tuesday, the Boyle boys soccer team played an away game at Lincoln County. The Rebels entered with a 7-7 record and managed to improve that with a 5-1 win.

The game had a slow start, with a 1-0 halftime lead for Boyle. The Rebels scored 3 early in the second to put the game to bed.

When asked about the performance, junior defender Max Kilby said, “we didn’t play perfectly, but we still won 5-1.”

Boyle is undefeated in 12th region play and will look to keep winning with the postseason not too far out of sight.

 

Boys Soccer Wins Battle Against Briar Jumpers

On Wednesday, the boys soccer team improved their winning streak to 8 games in a row after they won a hard-fought game against the Somerset Briar Jumpers.

Boyle opened the Scoring with a rebound goal by junior Alan Wireman, which was quickly followed up by a Somerset goal. Late in the second half, sophomore Jackson Thornberry scored his first career goal for the 2-1 Rebel win. 

When asked about the goal, Thornberry took a humble approach saying “I try to take as many opportunities as I can and I got lucky with this one.”

The Rebels will look to keep winning as they take on Bryan Station and then enter the 2A state final four.
