Rebels fall in regular season finale

The Rebels headed to Taylor County on Friday Night to take on the Cardinals in Boyle’s regular season finale. Taylor County came into this game 17-12, with good wins over North Hardin and Hart County.

The Rebels started off slow, and were down 16-9 at the end of the first. They weren’t hitting their shots, and had to start off hot in the second.

They outscored the Cardinals by seven in the second quarter, and tied things up at 32 by halftime! They played great defense and their shots finally started falling.

The second half was more of the same. The game was within six the rest of the game, and the Rebels ended up losing 76-70.

Taylor County shot an astounding 50% from the three-point line, and 57% from the field! They were led by transfer CJ Johnson, who had 26 points and five rebounds, shooting 64% from the field and 77% from the free throw line. Layken Lyons, their leading scorer on the season, added 23 points and seven rebounds on 9-14 shooting.

The Rebels will start their 45th District Tournament campaign on Monday against the Kentucky School for the Deaf.
