Close War against the Warriors

Last night the girls basketball team faced off against the DCA Lady Warriors at home in the pink out night doubleheader! The girls had just come off of a big district win to Garrard County and were ready to tackle this power team last night.
It had been 3 years since they last defeated Danville Christian Academy and they really were looking to take the win. Both teams had come in with a successful season so far and this was in for a good night of ball.
The game started off with the Warriors gaining a big lead. They quickly separated the scores by double digits. At the end of the first, the score was 14-2, DCA leading. However, by the end of the half, the Rebels had made a run to cut the difference to 9. The Rebels started off timid against 6 ‘4 Grace Mbugua, but they didn’t give up once they got the game going. At the end of the third, DCA was back in a double digit lead, winning 41-30.
The 4th quarter came with lots of madness! The stands were filled and they were definitely showing up with the noise factor. The Rebels talked with Coach Britt and came back out swinging. With some unlucky fouls, it would’ve been easy for the girls to give up, but they didn’t. They ended up cutting the lead to 3 points with a minute left in the game. However, a fast break from the Warriors got them a layup and made it a 5 point game. Though the Rebels pressed and pushed for a comeback, they just couldn’t stick it. They ended up losing 53-48 to the Lady Warriors.
Coach Britt said in a post game interview that “DCA has beat us two times but they definitely won’t beat us a third. I hope we see them in post season so that we get our rematch”.
The girls will play again at Garrard County on Friday night at 7:30! Be there to support your Rebels!
