Governor’s Cup District win for the Rebels!

On January 22nd and 23rd, the Boyle County academic team competed in the district tournament Governor’s Cup.

The academic team was able to take home some hardware last year, winning the overall district tournament. This year, they had another dominant performance, winning many different parts of the competition.

The Future Problem Solving team, made up of Katie Qualls, Maggie Gnann, Emery Herron, Campbell Johnson, and Luisa Sanchez, came first in the entire district!

In Quick Recall: Micah Brown, Sam Hackworth, Daniel Leber, Jacob Kirchner (Captain), Jada Maples, Desmond Rapp, Logan Ball, Clara Cooley, and Ellis Croshaw won the tournament for the first time in 24 years! A landmark accomplishment!

Talking about the Quick Recall tournament, Micah Brown said that they came into the competition, “confident and well prepared.”

 

Boyle County also had many people place in individual testing.

Mathematics:

  • Micah Brown – DISTRICT CHAMPION
  • Desmond Rapp – District Runner-Up

Science:

  • Ellis Croshaw – third Place
  • Desmond Rapp – fourth Place

Social Studies:

  • Sam Hackworth – third Place

Language Arts:

  • Jacob Kirchner – District Runner-Up
  • Daniel Leber – third Place
  • Logan Ball – fifth Place

Arts and Humanities:

  • Daniel Leber – District Runner-Up (Tie)
  • Jacob Kirchner – District Runner-Up (Tie)
  • Jada Maples – fifth Place

Composition:

  • Emma Taylor – District Runner-Up
  • Natalee Burke – third Place

Overall, the academic team placed first out of the entire district. They all have qualified for the regional tournament which will be in February.
